League of Women Voters of Dallas

It was my extreme pleasure to speak to the League of Women Voters of Dallas about forms of social influence, prejudice, and the formation of extreme beliefs. My fellow presenter discussed the effects of misinformation. We had a lively discussion about current events and building relationships. Many thanks to the wonderful members of LWVD for this opportunity! My presentation can be found here: https://bit.ly/3fVR3by , and below is Dr. Schroeder’s presentation. Enjoy!

Internship Recruiting Event

It is so great to be back on campus and seeing students face-to-face! This year’s career fair was an exciting start to the academic year, and a valuable resource for the Psychology Interns. We are so grateful for all of the organizations who have partnered with us to help students achieve career readiness and gain hands on experience.

50 Designs

One of my interests is art and design. I hadn’t realized that I had created this many projects, until this award pleasantly appeared after completing my last project. I figured I’d share this badge and promote the Canva website at the same time. I really do enjoy using the platform, it is incredibly user friendly and, most importantly, free!

This is not a paid promotion… but it could be if you are interested, Canva.

Escape the Room

The Psychology Department held our annual retreat at Escape the Room Dallas. We attempted the Western Bank Heist which, according to our hosts, “…may have looked tough upon first glance but these fine few were brave, clever and absurdly good at puzzle solving which led to their amazing efforts in escaping Western Bank Heist at Escape the Room Dallas.” It was amazing fun and a wonderful team building exercise. We look forward to another escape room challenge next year!

Psychology Career Day

UNT-Dallas Psychology Department

The 2022 UNT-Dallas Psychology Career Day was a huge success! Psychology faculty developed this program specifically for undergraduate Psychology majors. Students had a full day of networking, skill development, and, most importantly, the opportunity to learn valuable career and life lessons from panelists and alumni. We are incredibly grateful for the efforts of all who contributed to make the event impactful and memorable. We are already planning next year’s Career Day, so please reach out if you would like to contribute to the professional development of our students.

Service Award

I received this beautiful award in recognition of years of service at UNT-Dallas. I began working with UNTD as an adjunct in 2015, and then as a full-time lecturer in 2017. I am so very grateful for the opportunity to work in higher education, and at an institution that values the local community. It has been beyond rewarding.

AP Research Presentation & Oral Defense

This morning I had the pleasure of serving as an Oral Defense Panel member for AP Research students at Highland Park High School in Dallas, TX. I also had the honor of serving as a consultant for the following cult research project. I’m so proud of Miss Browne’s final research project. She did outstanding on her defense as well! I’m pleased that her research will further awareness of cult survivors and recovery programs. Many thanks for allowing me to be a part of the process.

Trailblazer 360

The UNT-Dallas Trailblazer 360 event was, as always, a lot of fun! Prospective students were able to tour the campus, including the new residence hall and student center. The Student Life Resource Fair was also in full swing, with plenty of treats, prizes, and UNTD swag. At the end of the day students participated in a scholarship raffle. It was a pleasure meeting so many prospective students and their families.
